The Will Smith List: Songs that Slap from Movies and TV

Inspired by the recent release of Amazon’s Daisy Jones and the Six series, I decided to make a list of the many earworms that movies and television have given us over the years. These are songs that play with our hearts due to the fact that many of these are from fictional bands who will never again release music. However, like any good one-hit wonder, we listen to them until we never want to hear it again, then we wait a few years, and do it all again.

Others are songs created for a specific story, designed to fit the tone, and unable to be heard without picturing the scene it fueled. Whether it be the pulsating chorus of Prince of Egypt, or the nasally emo of Dashboard Confessional’s Spider-Man 2 contribution, these songs will forever be tied to the visual and emotional memories.

While I can’t condone playing every song in the car with your kids, or watching the original source material of every bop, I can promise more than one blast to the past.
